About

The Purpose of Pep

The goal of  pinnacle equine podiatry (PEP) is to  provide horse owners with timely and affordable advise on their horses hoof alignment and shoeing no matter where they live.  After communicating with you about your horse and and acquiring the history and images necessary we will create a thorough report containing custom recommendations specifically for the trim and shoeing of your horse.  The report will provide clear visual and written instructions for your farrier. Our goal is to help clients correct lameness and performance issues in their horse as well as to help prevent future injuries and improper wear and tear.

The trim and shoeing of your horse  is often overlooked despite the fact that it contributes to a large part of lameness issues. The imbalanced hoof or inappropriate shoeing creates improper joint alignment causing lameness, osteoarthritis, laminitis and serious soft tissue injuries.

Too often the emphasis of lameness exams is focused on finding and  treating the lameness medically without really considering what initially lead to the lameness and how to correct it.  Many lameness issues can be resolved or at least greatly improved by making even the slightest changes in the trim and shoe type.

PEP also offers second opinions for any imaging such as radiographs or ultrasounds performed during veterinary exams or prepurchase exams. Having a second look over prepurchase radiographs provides you with the support you need to confirm the initial assessment or may provide you with a different interpretation , either way it will help you to make a very informed decision regarding the purchase of a horse as well as the management of the horse moving forward.
